Bringing Penang’s Hidden Primates Back into the Spotlight, One Bridge at a Time

A hidden population of “residents” resides a few metres above our heads in Penang’s rapidly shifting landscape. Hidden in the shadow of our canopies are the endangered Dusky Langur (Trachypithecus obscurus) and their primate cousins, such as the long-tailed macaques (Macaca fascicularis), who are often overlooked until they are forced to descend into the hazardous environment of our roads and buildings.
Join Dr. Jo Leen Yap, a primatologist and founder of Langur Project Penang (LPP), alongside her team of citizen scientists, to explore ways to engineer a more liveable Penang by building bridges where forest and city collide, allowing us to coexist better with our wildlife residents.
